Protecting the environment is good business. It can reduce the risk of unwarranted legal attacks and serve as an important tool in your defense. Environmental assessments and audits available from Validus can help producers implement best management practices, manage risk, secure credit and qualify for environmental insurance.
Environmental Review Assessment/Pre-Audit
Comprehensive Validus environmental assessments and audits are based on accepted industry standards and best management practices, including the Good Environmental Livestock Production Practices (GELPPs), a set of standards developed by the livestock industry and verified by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
The assessment/pre-audit includes:
Step 1: Entrance Interview with owner/manager
Step 2: On-site Assessment
Step 3: Exit Interview with owner/manager
Step 4: Written Assessment Report and Certificate
At the conclusion of an assessment, producers receive a report comparing the operation’s environmental management practices to the standards. If any challenges are identified, the producer will receive complete recommendations for meeting the performance standards.
The Environmental Review covers the following areas:
Environmental Review Audit
The aduit is an independent, third-party verification of on-farm environmental practices. This audit focuses on current consumer industry concerns in a “Yes/No” question format. The auditor will explain his or her findings during an exit briefing and provide the client with a copy of the audit findings.
