Please Welcome Our Summer Intern, Megan!

Validus is once again pleased to welcome a summer intern to our team!  This year, Megan Abeyta was selected to spend the summer learning about Where Food Comes From and Validus’ work in the agricultural sector.  She had the opportunity to represent Validus at World Pork Expo and will also have the ability to shadow on-farm audits for all species including swine, dairy, poultry as well as feed and Safe Quality Food.

Megan was raised in Fort Collins, CO until she moved to Ames, IA to attend Iowa State University and major in Animal Science.  While living in Colorado, she interned at a sheep ranch, veterinary clinic, and Horses Therapeutic Riding Center.  At Iowa State Megan has worked at the veterinary school every year as well as the Animal Resource Station and currently, the Center for Food Security and Public Health.

Besides being a full-time student and holding part-time jobs throughout the school year, Megan is also involved in many activities.  She is a peer mentor for freshmen animal science majors, an An-Cy guide with the department of animal science and is a member of the Animal Nutrition and Behavior Club and Block and Bridle.

We are very excited to have Megan in the Urbandale office this summer and look forward to helping her expand her knowledge and interest in on-farm animal welfare auditing!
